Oxidation, pathologies and aging
The seminar aims to establish and explain the existing correlation between the processes related to the so-called oxidative stress and the physiological process of aging, both healthy and pathological, suggesting, in addition, strategies for the design of tools for the prevention of said pathological aging. Objectives: * Clarify oxidation concept (origin) and the theory oxi-inflammatory aging. * Description of the physiological free radical model (ROS). Mechanisms of action. Types of human body oxidative modifications. * Establish Oxidative stress and diseases. How does tissue damage produce oxidative stress? * Clarify: Does it really make sense to talk about oxidative stress in the aging process?. Establish the closely relation between oxidation and aging pathologies. * Evaluation of potential nutritional interactions with the aging process: nutrition as a preventive tool. * Definition of a new strategic action: the chronic pathologies are mostly multifactorial character reason why it is reasonable to face their prevention through a multifactorial approach. * Description of the different mechanisms / strategies for the prevention of degenerative pathologies related to the physiological cascade of oxidative stress.
