National / International Stay
Research stay at an institution other than UCAM (university, research center, or company), which may be domestic or foreign, and always different from the doctoral student's place of work. Doctoral students may participate in this activity upon admission to the program. The stay must last a minimum of 3 months (480 hours, which may be divided into smaller periods) over 4 years for full-time students and over 5 years for part-time students.
This is an OPTIONAL activity, and students may choose to do this activity OR the activity of presenting an abstract at an international conference (or both).
To obtain the INTERNATIONAL MENTION, students must carry out this activity at an international research center and submit a request to the Academic Committee before doing so (see below).
The doctoral student, together with their supervisor, will assess the suitability of this type of stay. To this end, they will study the possible centers where such a stay could take place, either to further the doctoral student's training or to carry out a transfer of knowledge. Before deciding to participate in this activity, the doctoral student must have the approval of their supervisor and a letter of acceptance from the host center, as well as an action and training plan to be carried out during those months.
Person Responsible or teaching and and Assessment
The aim of this activity is to broaden the doctoral student's knowledge in their field or to transfer knowledge to the business community or society. Furthermore, this activity encourages doctoral students to work as part of a team and to integrate into multidisciplinary working groups, as well as to collaborate with other researchers in their field.
After completing the stay, the doctoral student must upload the following to the corresponding activity in LAUREA ACADEMIC:
- The certificate accrediting the stay issued and signed by the host center (minimum 3 months).
- The report on the activities carried out at the host center:
In this report (maximum five pages), the student must describe in detail the activities carried out and the results obtained according to the following format:
- Brief introduction, description of the materials and methods used, and specific objectives of the work carried out.
- Research results obtained. Scientific output, if any, must also be indicated.
- Bibliography (according to Vancouver standards) used in the preparation of the report. Evaluation report: once this documentation has been uploaded, the tutor will be responsible for validating in LAUREA ACADEMIC whether or not the activity has been successfully completed.
To obtain INTERNATIONAL MENTION, doctoral students must, in addition to the above, submit a formal request to the Academic Committee for this stay BEFORE undertaking the research stay and at any time during the academic year. To do so, they must complete the Application for an international stay and provide proof of acceptance from the host institution. They must also provide a work plan to be carried out at the requested center. This application must be signed by the interested party and supervisors and must be authorized by the corresponding Academic Committee BEFORE the stay takes place.
- Demonstrate ability to integrate and work in other groups.
- Exchange knowledge and research results.
Previous stays at a NATIONAL or FOREIGN centre may be submitted, provided that the subject of the stay is related to the topic of the thesis project and lasts for a period equal to or longer than that indicated in the activity. To do so, you must upload the evidence described above to LAUREA ACADEMIC, and your supervisor will evaluate and validate it as appropriate.
