Request for extension

The duration of the doctoral studies will be computed from the date of admission to the programme until the presentation date of the request for the doctoral thesis deposit.

Full-Time Doctoral Students

Said students shall have three years to submit their doctoral thesis deposit request. If after the aforementioned period the thesis deposit request has not been submitted, the Academic Committee of the programme may authorise the extension of this period for one more year, upon request of the doctoral student, a decision which will be communicated to the Academic Registry of the Doctoral School.

Part-Time Doctoral Students

Said students shall have five years to submit their doctoral thesis. If after the aforementioned period the thesis deposit request has not been submitted, the Academic Committee of the programme may authorise the extension of this period for two more year, upon request of the doctoral student, a decision which will be communicated to the Academic Registry of the Doctoral School.

Exceptionally, the extensions mentioned in the previous sections may be extended for another additional year, upon request of the doctoral student, which must be authorised by the Academic Committee of the corresponding programme, a decision that will be communicated to the Academic Registry of the Doctoral School.

 

Procedure

 

  • Download the request form and fill it out properly.
  • Send the request form through the UCAM Doctoral Student Portal.
  • The Academic Committee of the programme will assess the request form and will issue (within a maximum period of 30 calendar days) a resolution in terms of favourable or unfavourable, in which case it will be justified accordingly.
  • The Academic Registry of the Doctoral Schoolwill register the new status of the student on the Laurea Academic platform and will inform the tutor and supervisor/s.
