Writing and Publication of a Scientific Paper
Students will learn about the different types of scientific texts, their structure, as well as detailed information on style and writing. Knowledge is acquired regarding the process of publishing a scientific paper and its dissemination. PhD students may engage in this activity as soon as they are admitted to the programme.

- A) Writing and Publication of a Scientific Paper. Parts of a scientific paper (writing): Title, abstract, key words, introduction, material and method, statistical analysis, results, discussion, conclusions/practical applications, acknowledgements and references.
- B) Writing scientific texts: Style and writing: general writing rules; syntax; helpful documents; good use of spell checkers in word. Types of works: Articles; standards; criteria for writing them; types of articles; guidelines for writing them, abstracts, master's dissertations and scientific monographs.
- C) Oral presentation of work. Public speaking courses. Design of the oral presentation. Basic rules for presenting a paper and a presentation & graphic editing programme. General guidelines for communicating work and basic principles of public speaking.
The student must upload the outline of a scientific article to the task on the virtual campus. The head of the activity will evaluate the submitted work. If the evaluation is favourable, the head will forward the information to EIDUCAM, which will issue a certificate of successful completion. Campus documents and the certificate must be uploaded to Laurea for validation by the tutor.
