International Stay
Research stay at an international institution different from UCAM (University or association). Doctoral students may participate in this activity from the second year of their enrollment in the program.
Person Responsible or teaching and and Assessment
The objective of this activity is to expand the doctoral student's knowledge in their area of expertise or to transfer knowledge to the productive sector. Furthermore, this activity encourages the doctoral student to work in teams and integrate into multidisciplinary working groups, as well as to collaborate with other researchers in their field at an international level. This is an essential requirement to be eligible for the international distinction in their doctoral degree.
The person responsible for this activity will be in charge of:
- Provide all the information necessary for the student to be able to carry out the activity normally.
The supervisor must:
- Evaluate, alongside the doctoral student, the suitability of this type of stay and examine the possible centers in which this activity could be carried out.
- Approve the stay by means of the Application to carry out a Research Stay in a Foreign/International Institution*.
The tutor must:
- To control the development of the activity by the student, to corroborate the delivery of the documentation at the end of the stay and to confirm its success, both in the annual final report and in the report for the thesis deposit.
The PhD student must:
- Take the initiative in contacting their supervisor and tutor for the development of this activity.
- Evaluate, alongside its supervisor, the suitability of this type of stay and examine the possible centers in which it could be carried out.
- Before initiating the stay, send the Application to carry out a Research Stay in a Foreign/International Institution to EIDUCAM for its approval by the Academic Commission.
- Upon completion of the stay, upload to Laurea Academic the certificate of the stay issued by the institution where the stay was carried out, along with a short report explaining all the academic activities undertaken during the stay, signed by the tutor responsible at the host institution.
This activity is compulsory for all doctoral students who wish to obtain the International Mention in their doctoral degree.
- In this case, the doctoral student must notify his/her tutor/supervisor and EIDUCAM in writing of his/her intention to apply for the International Mention, following all the necessary guidelines for this purpose.

This activity is not recognizable by stays carried out before admission to the program or by stays carried out during the program, but not authorized by the Academic Commission.
