Research Seminars
The activity consists of watching research seminars online, prepared and presented by researchers specialized in different areas related to the program (10 seminars / 30 hours / 3 ECTS). After viewing, the doctoral students must prepare a critical summary and a reflective analysis of the content, which they will then upload to the platform as an individual assignment. This approach aims to foster the ability to synthesize, critical thinking, and written expression, allowing students to enhance their research training from the very beginning of their participation in the program.
Person Responsible or teaching and and Assessment
- Facilitate the acquisition of an updated and multidisciplinary vision of the research lines related to the program through attendance at online seminars.
- Develop the ability for critical analysis based on the presentation of results and methodologies by expert researchers.
- Encourage synthesis and written expression through the preparation of individual critical summaries.
- Enhance the doctoral student's research autonomy, promoting personal reflection on the content covered in the seminars.
- Contribute to the comprehensive training of the doctoral student in transversal skills of research, communication, and critical thinking.
For each online seminar, doctoral students must watch the recording and prepare an individual written report with the aim of strengthening their critical thinking, synthesis, and writing skills. The procedure will be as follows:
- Complete viewing of the research seminar.
- Preparation of a written report in PDF format (max. 1,000 words, Times New Roman 12 font, single-spaced), which must contain: Identifying information:
- Seminar title, full name of the doctoral student, and ID number.
- Structured summary of the seminar content.
- Inclusion, within the analysis, of information from at least three high-impact publications related to the topic addressed.
- Final bibliography prepared according to APA guidelines.
- Submission of the report on the Virtual Campus, within the task enabled for each seminar, within the established deadlines (late submissions will not be accepted). The files must be named following the format: LastName_Year_SeminarTitle (example: Ramos_2022_On-court testing procedures in basketball).
- Once the report has been evaluated with a PASS grade and certified by the International Doctoral School (EIDUCAM), the doctoral student must upload it to the Laurea application for validation.
