Research Plan Elaboration

Presentation of the research plan of the PhD student so that it can be evaluated by the Academic Committee and subsequently registered at the Doctoral School. Doctoral students, regardless of their dedication to the programme, must necessarily complete this activity during the first 6 months of being on the programme. Students will dedicate 25 hours to this activity. Given the importance of the research plan in the PhD student's training process, and bearing in mind that this is the document that defines the PhD student's research career, it is very important that this activity is completed during the first 6 months on the programme. The PhD student must present the research plan within the first 6 months on the programme, so that it can be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the programme. In the event of the evaluation being unfavourable, the PhD student will have one month to remedy the indicated deficiencies. This process shall be repeated as many times as necessary until a favourable evaluation is obtained. In any case, the research plan must be fully registered at the Doctoral School (EIDUCAM) before the end of the first year of the programme (RD 99/2011).

Doctoral students will be provided with support material and tutorials through the virtual campus to enable them to carry out this activity in a manner that guarantees the highest level of success. The PhD student, together with his/her supervisor(s), and following the indications in the support material, will reflect on: the objectives of the work to be carried out, the methodology to be used for this purpose, the need to be evaluated by an Ethics Committee, and the planning of the research activities necessary to achieve the objectives. The outcome of this work will be the research plan.

Proof of participation in this activity will be evidenced by the subsequent submissions made on the virtual campus. Students will submit as many projects as necessary until they obtain a favourable score on the campus task. Once the favourable score is obtained, the last version (the approved one, with all its documentation signed by the supervisors) will be uploaded on LAUREA ACADEMIC in the activity ""Elaboration of the Research Plan"" for validation by the student's tutor. Description of the procedure: Students will have access to support material and tutorials that will allow them to develop this activity through the Virtual Campus platform. Within 6 months, the research plan report (signed by the supervisors) and all the necessary documentation for its development (Ethics Committee, CVs of supervisors external to the programme and justification of the third supervisor, if applicable) must be submitted on the Virtual Campus for evaluation. This action shall be repeated as many times as necessary, as instructed by the evaluator, until a favourable evaluation is obtained. In any case, before the end of the first year of the programme, the student must have a favourable evaluation of this activity. Once the favourable evaluation is obtained, all evidence (documents) will be uploaded on LAUREA ACADEMIC in the Activity Document, activity Elaboration of Research Plan, for validation by the tutor.
