Services offered by the UCAM HiTech Analysis Laboratory
The UCAM HiTech Analysis Laboratory offers academic staff, UCAM researchers and external users a range of analytical services designed to support research, development and innovation projects. Its capabilities include techniques for separation, identification, quantification and molecular characterisation, as well as sample processing and the development of specific analytical methods. These services can be carried out with technical support from laboratory staff or, in the case of accredited UCAM research staff and subject to prior authorisation, through direct use of the equipment.

Analytical Method Development
Analytical method development is available exclusively for HPLC and UPLC-MS / LC-MS techniques. This service is focused on the optimization of specific methods for the detection, separation, identification, and/or quantification of compounds of interest within the framework of research, development, and innovation projects.
Prior to the full development of the method, a feasibility study per compound will be conducted. Its objective is to evaluate whether the analyte exhibits an adequate analytical response and if reasonable initial conditions exist for its incorporation into the method.
| Service | Scope | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Feasibility study | per compound | 80€ |
| Method development | from 1 to 4 analytes | 400€ |
| Additional analytes | from the 5th to the 10th analyte | +200€ per analyte |
| Additional analytes | from the 11th to the 20th analyte | +400€ per analyte |
| Additional analytes | from the 21st analyte onwards | +500€ per analyte |
The feasibility study includes a literature review, transition search in libraries, and direct infusion of the molecule to evaluate its ionization and fragmentation in both polarities, where applicable.
The method development includes the basic optimization of the analytical conditions necessary to generate an operational method. For low-complexity methods (1 to 4 analytes), a base price of €400 is established. Beyond that number, the price will progressively increase based on the number of analytes included, due to the increased complexity, instrument time, optimization, and number of injections required.
Guidelines and examples:
| No. of analytes | Feasibility Study | Method development | Total Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 Analytes | 4 x 80€ = 320€ | 400€ | 720€ |
| 6 Analytes | 6 x 80€ = 480€ | 400€ + (2 x 200€) = 800€ | 1280€ |
| 10 Analytes | 10 x 80€ = 800€ | 400€ + (6 x 200€) = 1,600€ | 2,400€ |
In the event that, following the feasibility study, a compound does not show an adequate analytical response or it is not recommended to proceed with its development, only the amount corresponding to the feasibility study performed will be invoiced.
The prices indicated for method development do not include subsequent sample analysis, which will be invoiced according to the applicable general rates for HPLC or UPLC-MS / LC-MS.
Discounts Available
The following volume discounts apply to HPLC and UPLC-MS / LC-MS analyses:
- 50 samples or more. 10% discount
- 100 samples or more. 15% discount
Terms of Service
- Payment for partial samples or partial hours will not be accepted. Invoicing will always be based on a full sample or a full hour, as applicable to the service requested.
- The use of equipment without technical support will be restricted exclusively to accredited UCAM researchers and will require prior approval from the laboratory coordinator.
- Rates for external users include technical support. In the case of FTIR and Raman, the rate for consecutive hours will apply from the second hour of continuous use.
